Signing Lighting and Guarding at Roadworks

Description:This 3-day Signing Lighting and Guarding at Roadworks Course will train up individuals so they have the qualification to successfully carry out this role. In addition, all individuals involved in Roadworks on public roads need to complete this course.

According to the HSA, construction work on roads will generally involve several contractors carrying out varying tasks or alternatively working together as a team on a single task. However whether the work is performed by one or more contractors, it is a requirement that the full extent of the construction works particularly with regard to signing, lighting and guarding must be supervised and coordinated by at least one competent person who possesses a valid CSCS SLG card.

Students on a course: Minimum = 4, Maximum = 8.

*please note, SOLAS set the attendance requirements for this course, so if insufficient attendees turn up on the day, Celtic Safety Training may be forced to cancel.

Duration: 3 Days

Pre-Requisites: All individuals must have an in-date Safe Pass card, and be over 16 years old.

Requirements: The course will last for 3 days, and includes 3 exams – Theory, Classroom Practical and Road Site Practical. Individuals need to bring with them one passport photo, their PPS number and Form of ID.

Course content – As the course is 3 days long, there are different aspects covered over each day:

DAY ONE

  • Introduction to Traffic Management
  • Roadworks Classifications
  • Traffic Management Devices, Layouts & Applications

DAY TWO

  • Motorways/Dual Carriageways
  • Safety Systems of Installation
  • Site Practical – Practice/Test Run
  • Multiple Choice Exam

DAY THREE

  • Site Practical Exam
  • Classroom Practical Exam 

Certification: Successful candidates will receive a QQI Level 5 Certificate in Signing Lighting and Guarding at Roadworks and a SOLAS CSCS Card.

NOTE: Payment must be made in full or else deposit of 50% must be received before booking can be confirmed.  If course is cancelled by Celtic Safety Training, a full refund is issued.  For cancellation made by students within 5 days of course start date, no refund can be given.  Cancellations made by the student more than 5 days before the course start date, 50% refund only. Deposits cannot be refunded.
